If there actually is an “americana” genre, this should play during orientation. From 1959’s Rio Bravo, this is American cinema and American music at its best. Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin harmonizing, John Wayne admiring, and Walter Brennan basically being the old prospector.
One of my all-time favorites.
I can just see Pollard lying there, singing “Twilight Campfighter,” with Gillard strumming the gee-tar, and one of King Shit's old and grizzled Golden Boys playing the role of Walter Brennan. The American beat goes on.
don't forget Cindy Cindy:

A brilliant film, a classic!
