Will Johnson – Just To Know What You’ve Been Dreaming
Vultures Await, 2004
Undertow
“When you’re not around,
You know nothing makes a sound,
In the silence where I drown”
A big thank you to my good friend, Will Johnson, for reminding me that music remains one of the few reliable maps of the human experience. It helps us navigate love and loss, two sides of the same glorious (and often painful) reality. And if you can sing along, well, that’s just a bonus.
Dedicated to my beautiful daughter, Leilani, until we see each other again.
Oh, man, I love this song. It's actually a song we might cover on the next Magnolia Mountain record. And I know how much it hurts, man. My first wife took my daughter away from me for a while many years ago, and it seemed like an eternity at the time. Just keep loving her and doing the right things and when she's old enough, she'll know, and you'll have her back. I wish you peace, bro.
Beautiful photo (& nice comment Mark). Reminds me to appreciate my own beautiful 2 year old daughter. Thanks
Thanks Mark, your comments mean a lot. I'm exercising zen-like patience and I'd like to think the universe is (and will continue) rewarding me. And as for the song itself, damn straight, son!!! Magnolia Mt needs to get on the Will Johnson pronto! I wholeheartedly endorse.
She's beautiful!
Awesome post, I really love this song and can't wait to hear more.
