I don’t particularly care for The Doors, but I actually think that makes this bit from Kids In The Hall even funnier. Bruce McCullough is perfect as Insane Record Store Guy and he teaches Kevin McDonald two valuable lessons: 1) Greatest Hits albums are for housewives and little girls and 2) When you’re free-flyin’ with The Doors, maaan, what do you need a safety net for?!?!

Did you know this was the title of the Kids In The Hall theme song? I did not. You can find “Weekend” on Savvy Show Stoppers, a 1988 compilation that does a good job of showcasing their appeal – punk but not punk, surf but not surf – a sound that clearly anticipated The Sadies. Coincidentally, one of the tracks on the album is called “Theme From TV” and yet is a totally different track than “Weekend.” Those clever Canucks
