Happy 1st Birthday, Sweet Lu!
Happy first birthday to my lovely daughter, Lucinda! ONE YEAR!!! Time flies what with the barrage of bottles, diapers, giggles, belches and farts, putting of things in one’s mouth, random screams that I’m pretty sure were some sort of judgment, and more hilarity and joy than a mom and dad could ask for. I mean, just look at that face. Even if you’re not a kid person you gotta admit, “That’s a cute fucking kid.” I blame her parents.

This song is a dual dedication to Sweet Lu from me and her mother, Sarah, because we’re about 95% sure she was conceived to Bobby Jealousy — though not this particular song, so it’s less creepy, right? — and we’re both bummed that the band has broken up (temporary hiatus). We miss you, Bobby J. “Children Of God” actually came out 10 days before Lu was born and was playing in the car as we buckled in to go home. She may have flaws, but she’s our little monkey masterpiece. We love you, Lucinda!
