So, I was away on a mission in a parallel universe where (predictably) I couldn’t communicate by blog. Sorry about that. These things happen. To the 37 people who told me they were holding candlelight vigils until the Adios Lounge came back, thank you for your support. I can’t exactly say what I was doing or with whom I was not doing it with, but that’s only because of FBI tampering laws. Let’s just agree that today’s song is purely coincidental. Rick Danko and Paul Butterfield from 1979 breaking hearts. Weird to think this is only three years removed from The Last Waltz.
This obscure video goes out to Austin, Texas, with love from Los Angeles, California.
Rick Danko w/Paul Butterfield – Unfaithful Servant
Blue Note, Boulder, CO
October 12, 1979
Unfaithful servant
I hear you leaving soon in the morning
What did you do to the lady
That she’s going to have to send you away?
Unfaithful servant
You don’t have to say you’re sorry
If you done it just for spite
Or did you do it just for the glory?
Like a stranger you turned your back
Left your keys and gone to pack
Bear in mind who’s to blame and all the shame
The time we shared, the way we cared, the love we shared
Unfaithful servant
I can hear the whistle blowing
That train is coming and soon you’ll be going
Let us not bow our heads for we won’t be complaining
Life has been good to us all
Even when sky has been raining
To take it like a grain of salt
Is all I can do, it’s no one’s fault
It makes no difference
If we fade away
It’s just as it was
It’s much too cold for me to stay
Goodbye to that country home
So long to a lady I had known
Farewell to my other side
I’d best just take it in stride
Unfaithful servant
You’ll learn to find your place
I see it in your smile
Yes, and I see it in your face
The memories will linger on
The good old days they’re all gone
Oh, lonesome servant can’t you see
We’re still one and the same, just you and me
welcome back!
Good to see you back. You mentioned 37 followers who were holding a candle for you so you can make it 38!
This is some really good video and kind of hard to watch.
I read the Band's biography a few months ago and the story of Richard Manuel's passing, which I had already known about, really hit home.
I did a Band post on my blog in January if you wanna take a look:

Good to see you back
Thanks for writing, Matt. And good to see you enjoying Rock Of Ages AND the Full Sail pilsner haha. Beer and vinyl … what a great idea. BTW, did you ever get Music From Big Pink? Please say yes.
