After 3 straight gigantasaurus uber-posts, my brain needs to be coaxed back into regular activity. Therefore, I'm keeping this one short and sweet. I will warn you, though. This sucker is an earworm. You may find yourself humming it all day if you're not careful. And if you let your kids hear it ... fuggedaboutit.
Here's the acoustic hipster version, courtesy of Austin's own Asylum Street Spankers. Lots of cool references in this one, how many can you name?
Speaking of naming references, don't forget to send in your submissions for the "Medleying With Bo" contest. Deadline is Sunday at noon.

My kids have always loved this one, and the Spankers version was surprisingly awesome -- thanks. You must have heard the version by Cake, too, eh? Total classic.
Actually, I didn't know Cake mah na mah na'd, but now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense. In a strange way, I could also see Waits doing it ... though I probably think that because he's half-muppet.
Oh, you absolutely MUST hear Cake's version. Here:
Cake: Manah Manah.
From the first (of three) For The Kids albums. Major indie cred, and a total jam.
Did you know that the Muppets version is actually a cover? Yes, this song was originally performed/written for a Swedish soft-core PORN film! Wikimore here!
Oops -- that last link should go here instead.
one time I was sick at home or something and watching Sesame Street, and during the credits they rolled footage of this song. only it was a less produced version, with just a white background and some kind of unidentified muppets. i've always been looking for this footage.
thanks for that tidbit, boyhowdy!
HAHA. Good old Cake. Thanks for posting that, it's awesome. Funny, too, because I just noticed that For The Kids is bookended by Cake and Tom Waits. Coincidence? You'd like to think so. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
